David Bowie Probably Faked His Death, Yawn...
I wouldn't normally offer my opinion about such trivia, but I guess I will this time.
My BS detectors went off when I smelt/heard Bowie had 'died'. Too many red-flags mean it looks like another fake celebrity death.
Blackstar
I'd rather have nits than be forced to listen to Bowie's music, I must confess. He did a few which weren't too excruciating back in the day, but on the whole, it's some repugnant shit. He comes across as a talentless, gender-bending narcissist, but that's probably just my impression:
“You’re a flash in the pan / I’m the great I Am.” - 'Blackstar'

“Blackstar” is perhaps Bowie's most experimental work since 1977's Low.

Replace 'experimental' with 'nauseating', and you'll be there...
Lyrics from Blackstar:
Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre then stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
(I’m a blackstar, I’m a star's star, I’m a blackstar)
These lyrics say to me: He faked his death, and is now 'someone else', a 'black star' - i.e. a star who is no longer visible. A star that's still there, but you just can't see it any more...
Note he's also a "star's star". So maybe the "stars" are in on the scam/joke/hoax/lie. They know he's still alive, so he's still a normal star to them.
More reasons to doubt he actually died:
1) Cancer. He supposedly died of cancer.
This is a big red flag for me. Cures for cancer are cheap and easily available to the uber-rich, like Bowie.
His hair looks fine in the latest videos, but if he'd been on chemo, his hair would have fallen out.
He looks perfectly healthy in his latest videos. Can still 'sing' in his typical 'style'.
I suspect they use 'cancer' in cases like these to give the impression to the poor that rich people do actually die of cancer.
2) All the world's a stage. This is show business. Ta da!
Bowie's all about the show. The whole music business is a show, it's show-business. They fake everything.
Lots of 'elite' people fake their deaths, just so they can step out of the limelight, and have another life.
(e.g. Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, John F Kennedy...)
3) Money. Dead artists sell more shit.
It's all about the cash... There will now be a HUGE increase in sales of Bowie records.

If he faked his death, then HE could potentially get the benefit of his own post-mortem windfall.
He'd still be alive to spend that money and have fun with it, instead of leaving it to his family. Perhaps he hates his family..?
Every famous artist alive knows they're missing out on all the cash they'll make after they die, and would rather get that Mammon now!
It'll be interesting to see what happens with the will, or if it's even reported on...
4) His album released just on time 'Blackstar'
It's very lucky he got the album finished in time.
His death is the best promotion it could possibly have.
Lucky, in a dark and Satanic kinda way. Just like him.
5) Song 'Lazarus'
This is the song video. Featuring Dave in a hospital, it's about as pleasing to the senses as a stay in one, in my opinion.

The Biblical story of Lazarus describes a man who was brought back to life, after being declared dead, by Jesus.
This could be taken as a clue that he intended to fake his own death publicly, and come back to life, privately.
6) Date of death: 11 / 01 / 16
Great date & numerology to die on. It has the twin gateways of 11:11, separated by a 0, and a 6...
It could be read as: Going through one portal (11) - to zero (death) - then though another portal (11) to 6, the number of man. 11 0 11 6.
